Maternity Manifesto

Some thoughts on life post-baby, but don't hold me to all of them :)

I will not:

Neglect Eddie in any way
Neglect Molly in any way
Talk about nothing but myself baby/pregnancy/birth
Send pictures of the baby immediately after it’s born (looking like a walnut)
Send pictures of myself looking rough after having given birth
Expect everyone to find the baby sweet
Bring the baby into work
Stagnate at home
Put a ‘Baby on Board’ sticker/Winnie the Pooh side panels on the car
Bore people with daily emails about the baby (hence this blog!)
Get fat(ter)

Nine months in, nine months out

Funny that nine months of pregnancy felt like a lifetime, whereas the following nine months has gone by in the blink of an eye. I must stop myself counting the days, it's very easy to fall into the trap of saying to yourself, 'this is the last week I'll spend with Will before nursery'; 'only 5 weeks until I go back to work'....etc. Life is good and there is so much to look forward to; Sing and Sign, Waterbabies, friends, family and all sorts of adventures we haven't even dreamed of yet. Next on the list - lunch with Clive and Jenny, our arteries are hardening at the very thought!

Bring on the germs

Feeling appalling after what was a really nice day until I got in the car to pick Will up from his first full day at nursery and suddenly felt absolutely dreadful. I'm reliably informed this is par for the course, Will is going to catch every germ going now he's mixing with other children on a regular basis. On a positive note, he had a lovely time - I was early and found him covered in fishfinger crumbs, woofing down a rusk - baby heaven! Will is such an angel, it was all I could do to hold back the tears - again. My first foray back into work was also really positive, it was great to see the old team again and feel part of things (well, sort of). Knowing Will is happy at Little Sods is going to make going back much, much easier. We will be fine. 'Peas in a pod!'
